error - software update data for street pass could not be found on sd card

I accidently deleted the software update data for street pass from my sd card  to make room for a downloadable game.  Everything works fine but when I go to street pass it tells me "the software update data for street pass could not be found on sd card"  and that it is required to play street pass.  It asks if i want to re download the update.  I say yes and it looks like it is downloading then it tells me I am up to date.  Then the error pops up again.  I cannot even get into my street pass.  Can this be resolved?  and how can I correct it if so.
