Need Help Fixing my 3DS.

Hi there. This is the first time I've ever posted here so please forgive me if I seem a bit nervous.

Last week, I went down to my sister's place to help look after her kids while she went away on important business. I had brought my 3DS with me to play with them, but one night while I was charging it, I tripped over the power cord and sent it flying against a hard surface. Cosmetically, the 3DS is fine. But now whenever I turn it on the screen either stays black with no sound, or it boots up to the menu screen only to freeze instantaneously (though the music is curiously unaffected.

My initial guess is that something might have gotten knocked loose inside the 3DS itself, but I will openly admit that I'm not the most technologically-gifted individual in the world and I'm way too scared to even attempted to open it up for fear of making the problem worse. At the same time, however, I cannot just simply go out and replace both it and all the games I've downloaded onto it simply because I have no money to my name, nor will I for God only knows how long; so repairing it is probably my only option.

If anyone out there has any insight or info on how to go about fixing this, please do not hesitate to contact me or reply to this post. I really don't want to end up loosing my 3DS because it's not only how I play my 3DS games, but also how I play my normal DS games as well.
